  • BEERS ON TAP 12/20/2011

  • CATOCTIN KOLSCH 4.9% ABV- On Tap
  • (served in a 16oz fluted pilsner)
  • German style golden ale that originates in the Cologne region. This style of the beer is brewed with around 12% wheat malt, the rest of the grist being German Pilsner malt. Restrained hop bitterness can be discerned by the use of German noble hops such as Hallertau, Hersbrucker or Tettnag varietals. This style of beer is protected by the "Kolsch Convention" pact signed in 1986 by 24 breweries in and around Cologne that is recognized by the German government and allows these breweries exclusive rights to the word Kolsch to describe their beer
  • GINGER KIDS 5.0% ABV - On Tap
(served in a 16oz English pint)

A salute to the red heads of the world!!  This unfiltered "strawberry blonde" beer is brewed with white wheat, pilsner and honey malt and infused with orange peel and six pounds of fresh ginger.  It is citrusy, fragrant and very subtly hopped with the noble Hallertau strain.

POINT OF ROCKS PALE ALE - On Tap
    6.5% ABV - On TAP

  • (served in a 16oz English pint)
AWest coast style American pale ale brewed with equal portions of pale and Vienna malts to provide lots of malt backbone and caramel malt for a hint of sweetness. The hop varietals are cluster for bittering and three additions of cascade for flavor and aroma. Pale copper brew is not for the hop impaired and is known to induce hophead hysteria.
  • 50 CAT IPA 7.0% ABV- On Tap
  • (served in a 16oz English pint)
  • An American style India Pale Ale. This medium bodied, light bronze hued brew has an aggressive hop character and flavor from the use of American hops in dry hopping. Our interpretation comes in at 13.0 degrees plato with IBU’s in the mid 40’s. The American hop varietals used as Kettle additions were Amarillo and Chinook and this was dry hopped with Chinook as well.
  • DEVILS DUE 9.0% ABV - On Tap
  • (served in a 16oz fluted pilsner)
  • A Belgian style Strong Golden Ale made with 100% pilsenermalt and 50 pounds of sugar this is a light golden colored ale fermented with a Belgian yeast strain from the A Chouffe brewery in the Ardennes region.
  • WINTER SUN SAISON 5.3% ABV -On Tap
  • (served in a 16oz fluted pilsner)
  • This pale-orange, farmhouse style ale derives its citrus flavor solely from the Saison yeast strain, while barley, wheat and crystal malts are blanced by Noble hops. Flavorful and smooth, this beer is a beam of sunshine for these cold winter days.
  • IRISH STYLE DRY STOUT 4.0% ABV - On Tap
(served in a 16oz English pint)
A rich malt grist of dark grains used to brew this results in its being completely opaque in colour. Some Black Malt, lots of roasted Barley and a good amount of flaked Barley are used to provide the characteristic dryness found in the finish. A richness or strength may be perceived but is actually less in alcohol than our Kolsch. Sparingly used hop English First Gold.
    MEDITATOR DOPPELBOCK
  • 9.2% ABV - On Tap
  • (SNIFTER)
This deep-copper-hued, malty monster of a lager was brewed the week before Christmas and has waited for over two months to meet your taste buds! This remarkably smooth beer is packed with six kinds of malt and balanced with noble German hops. Complex, potent, and flavorful,
  • ASK ABOUT OUR CASK
  • Cask ale is an old school way of serving beer. In English pubs before the advent of refrigeration all beer was kept cool in the cellar and the typical ambient temperature was around 50-55 degrees Fahrenheit. The means for pulling the beer from the cellar was by displacement pump which evolved into the lovely hand pumps that you will find in most English pubs to this day. The beer is served unfiltered and may be fined to ensure clarity. The carbonation is natural and therefore very low resulting in a less gassy product. Cask ale is another way to enjoy the full flavor of beer.

  • CHECKPOINT CHARLIE WEISSE
  • (served in a 16oz fluted pilsner)
  • This tart Berlin-Style wheat beer was once dubbed "The Champagne of the North" by Napoleon. "Sour Malt" combined with wheat yields a soft, yet distinctive version of this refreshing German classic. Known as a "Berliner Weisse", these mild, unfiltered beers were once the most popular beers in the North of Germany. Garnished with a orange or lemon.
  • RED ALE
  • (served in a 16oz English pint)
  • American style red or amber ale. This beer is brewed with a good amount of crystal malt to create the red color and the toffee carmel notes in the flavor. Some German munich malt was also used to add to the malt character. The hops used are 100% American with a blend of Willamette and Centennial for bitterness, flavor and aroma. The overall experience is a mildly hoppy brew with a solid malt background.
  • HEAD KNOCKER
  • (served in a 16oz English pint)
  • An English style golden strong ale brewed with imported English pale malt and German pilsner malts to provide buscuity malt notes and a dark golden color. The hop varietals used are imported English Challenger and First Gold to create a pleasant bitterness on a palate
  • WEE HEAVY ALE
  • (served in a 16oz English pint)
  • A Strong Scotch Ale. This is a very full bodied, dark, rich brew with a sweet malt character of much depth possessing the flavors of toffee, plums and currents. The hop varietal used in such small amount is English First Gold and can be barely discerned. The target gravity for this brew is 20 degrees plato and hop bitterness of just 14 IBU’s.
  • SORDID PAST

  • 8.3% ABV (SNIFTER)
Brewed with chocolate and caramel malts and a blend of English and American hops, this dark Belgian ale is flavorful and deceptively smooth.  But tread lightly!  The Sordid Past clocks in at a robust 8.3%!  This is the first of Kristi's signature beers.  Enjoy, sip, and slip over to the dark side!
  • NOT MY FAULT ALT
  • (served in a 16oz English pint)
  • A German style Alt ("oldÄ in German) bier this version is a Düsseldorf version. Dark copper in color, rich malt notes, medium body and somewhat well hopped with the Spalt varietal. Cold conditioned for an extended period to lend a clean, crisp, smooth, flavor. This bier was made with pilsner, munich, wheat and a touch of chocolate wheat malts. Prosit!
  • PORTER
  • (served in a 16oz English pint)
  • An English style robust porter brewed with imported pale, crystal, black and chocolate malts to lend the dark color with ruby highlights and dark malt flavours. This is a beer supposedly created in London in the early 18th century to slake the thirst of the Market Porters, menwho carried all the produce at markets throughout the city. The hops used are also English varietals like challenger for bitterness and a good amount of first gold to balance all the malt notes.
  • 80 SHILLING AL 5.7% ABV
  • (served in a 16oz English pint)
  • A special brew to celebrate the Town of Leesburg, our own Scottish style ale! Brewed with English pale and crystal malts and a touch of roasted barley, we also used flaked oats to lend a nice mouth feel. The hop varietal used was English First Gold and it was sparingly used like most Scots would. A rich mahogany color with an accent towards malt sweetness. Cheers!
  • HEFEWEIZEN On Tap
  • (served in a 16oz fluted pilsner)
  • This summer favorite is brewed in the German style with imported German Wheat, Pilsner Malt and lightly hopped. The key is the special Yeast which imparts interesting spice characteristics like notes of clove and banana. Enjoy with or without a lemon garnish.
  • E.S.B Extra Special Bitter 5.3% ABV
  • (served in a 16oz English pint)
  • English style ale noted for being of extra strength and hop character as opposed to the regular Bitter or Mild as found in British taverns and pubs. Our version is made with English Pale Crystal malts and is lightly hopped with English Challenger and Progress hops. Color would be light copper in appearance.
  • OLE BROWN ALE 5.2% ABV
  • (served in a 16oz English pint)
  • Traditional English-Style Brown Ale. Brewed with imported English Ale Malt and a touch of Crystal and Chocolate Malts for a mild character, and gently hopped with English Golding Hops for a smooth balance. This classic beer illustrated that dark beers are sometimes the smoothest.
